As many of you will already know,
it was thanks to Pete Waterman that this year's series of 'Comic Relief Does
Fame Academy' came directly from County Hall.
For the fund-raising event, the building's old debating hall was transformed
into a fully-functioning TV studio capable of transmitting live broadcasts.
Viewers may also have been lucky enough to spot Pete when he appeared on one
edition of the show where famous British celebrities display their vocal talents
to the nation!
Pete is also linked to the fund-raising single '(I am Gonna Be) 500 miles'
by Peter Kay, Matt Lucas and The Proclaimers.
A previous Number One single here in the UK charts, the video for the track
features a whole-host of famous faces...and our very own Mr Waterman is the
first celebrity to be shown!
For more information on this, and the good work that Comic Relief does, please
visit the Red Nose Day website.
February 1st 2007 saw charity organisation

'Make A Difference Day'
The glittering Awards ceremony recognised the achievements of the volunteers
of their October 2006 event and was attended by a number of famous celebrities,
including our very own Pete Waterman!

Official Press Release
This title was released by PWL/EMI on 4th December 2006.
During the late 80s and early 90s, one love story captured the imagination
of millions around the world and the two characters entwined in the midst
of it soon became household names.
Scott Robinson and Charlene Ramsey were idols for every fan of Australian
soap opera 'Neighbours' which achieved global success thanks to the antics
of 'the girl next door' and her heartthrob boyfriend.
One half
of this infamous couple went on to become an international mega-star and universally
adored pop princess, while the other backed away from the public eye for a
while. That was until November 2006 when Jason Donovan strode gallantly into
the Australian outback to battle the elements in ITV's ratings stomper, "I'm
A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here".
After leaving 'Neighbours' in the late 80s, Jason signed to record label PWL
- home to some of the decades' biggest selling pop artists - and this partnership
led him to release a string of hit singles, notching up no less than 4 #1
singles in the UK.
Thrown into the world of celebrity at a very young age, he and Kylie continued
their friendship after they left the soap and as the world's media speculated,
a relationship blossomed. Rumours were fuelled further still when the pair
released the UK chart topping duet Especially For You in 1988 which went on
to become the fourth-highest selling single of the year.
His success continued to flourish and Jason Donovan became one of the biggest
pop stars of the time, gracing the cover of Smash Hits on countless occasions,
selling out tours and releasing albums 'TEN GOOD REASONS' (#1) and 'BETWEEN
THE LINES' (#2) which yielded two solo #1 singles 'Too Many Broken Hearts'
and 'Sealed With A Kiss'.
Between 1988 and 1993 alone, he enjoyed no fewer than 17 hit singles in the
UK and a selection of these tracks have now been brought together on one album.
'GREATEST HITS' features an impressive 10 top 10 singles, including Every
Day (I Love You More), Nothing Can Divide Us and the fantastic Any Dream Will
Do taken from West End musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:
HOLD ONTO YOUR HANDBAGS!
The Hitman And Her - the Classic Sound Of Saturday Night All Over Town
- has returned! This awesome 3xCD, 50 track set, contains every pumping
club anthem you would expect from that classic era.
From the classic screaming house of "Ride On Time" to the pure dance pop of
Snap "The Power", from the full on pianos of Oceanic's "Insanity" to the banging
"Playing With Knives" from Bizarre Inc, a quick look at the tracklist shows
that for every massive hit on the show there were some incredibly influential
dance tracks broken on there too.
Of
course, anyone over the age of 25 remembers the show - the original classic
"post pub telly" experience. Love it or hate it, you knew about it and everyone
was talking about it. Look out for a classic TV ad in which there's some classic
"Hitman" footage from back in the day. From Pete's "Be 'Aves" to Wiggy's unique
dancing…!! "The Hitman & Her" isn't only a must-buy comp of classic dance
hits and euro-dance foorfillers, it's an album which shows where the roots
of the current Scouse House / Clubland scene sprang up from.
This isn't cool or trendy, there's no skinny models dancing in Ibiza here.
This is an all out FUN package, packed with brilliant high energy classic
tunes - the sound of a REAL Saturday night all over the UK!
3 CDS, 50 TRACKS - THE HITMAN AND HER - OUT NOW!
To see full track-lisiting, please click the small image above.
Please remember that PWL cannot help you locate old
episodes of this cult TV show. Granada TV, the makers of the show, also currently
have no plans to repeat it.
Although yet to release any new material, it appears that our team of Pop
Supremos are already enjoying a bit of a revival as a number of SAW-penned
tracks currently chart around the globe! Following on from the UK Top 5 success
of Dead Or Alive's ‘You Spin Me Round’
earlier this year, Danzel
Vs DJ Frank's version of Rick Astley’s 'My Arms Keep Missing You' charted
in Belgium a couple of months back, whilst over in Australia the Young
Divaz recently rode high in the charts with their takes on Donna Summer’s
1989 pop-classic ‘This Time I Know It’s For Real’ and Lonnie Gordon's dance-pop
classic 'Happenin' All Over Again'.
The inclusion of Alex
Gaudino's take on Mandy Smith’s ‘Positive Reaction’ on respected dance
label Ministry Of Sound’s 'Funky
House Session 06' compilation CD and the recent single release of man-of-the-moment
Jose Gonzalez's
uniquely lo-fi reworking of Kylie Minogue’s Number One smash ‘Hand On Your
Heart’ are also helping SAW to once again flex their musical muscles and re-commence
their vice-like grip over the airwaves and pop charts!
Although not-directly responsible for any of these current cover-versions,
the success of these tracks proves that you cannot keep a good song down and
that the music-buying public knows a great pop song when they hear it!
Not content with reaching the
dizzy heights of Number One in both the Music Week Commercial Pop Chart and
the DMC Mainstream Chart with her track 'No Strings (Let’s Have Sex)', Lola
was recently responsible for a texting frenzy over at BBC Radio One!
Popular Radio One DJs Chris Moyles and Scott Mills both heavily championed
the release of this awesome track and encouraged listeners to text in to their
shows and request the song to be played!
To help promote her much-talked-about single, Lola arrived in the UK on 8th
August for a series of radio, TV and press interviews and also completed some
very successful personal appearances, including one at the world famous G-A-Y
night at the Astoria, London!
'No Strings (Let's Have Sex)' is still available from HMV stores and from
online retailers. Track listings for the single are as follows:

Jose Gonzalez : 'Hand On Your Heart'
Currently enjoying much recognition
due to the haunting music he has provided for the recent Sony Bravia TV adverts,
fans of Stock Aitken Waterman may be interested to know that Jose did a truly
amazing cover of Kylie's 1989 Number One single 'Hand On Your Heart' earlier
last year. The track was originally included on his Summer 2005 single 'Stay
In The Shade', however due to high demand the song has now been released as
a single in its own right!
Pete Waterman In The Press!
Did you
know that Pete has been featured in an edition of industry-magazine 'Property
Week'?
In this exclusive interview, Pete gave details of how moving into new premises
at County Hall had turned him into a bit of a property tycoon!
In the future it is hoped that the state-of-the-art studios will be used by
many different people for a variety of purposes!
Pete also got the chance to be on the cover of a popular British magazine
last year. Whilst other stars may secretly harbour a desire to be on the front
covers of high-class fashion publications, our down-to-earth hero was thrilled
when his face graced the cover of an edition of British fishing magazine 'Pike
& Predators'!
PWL Radio : Latest Announcement (Oct 2006)
www.pwl-empire.com
has decided for the time being to remove the link for PWL Radio. Although
PWL would like its internet-based radio station to return, this does not currently
feature in the Empire's immediate plans and it was felt that leaving dead
links on our site leads to confusion and prompts fans to email us with their
PWL Radio queries. When the situation surrounding PWL Radio does change we
will let you know via this website
As many of you will
know the PWL Empire has now fully re-located to its state-of-the-art premises
at County Hall.
Please remember that our Borough High Street offices are now closed.
It is hoped that www.pwl-empire.com will have some new shots of our offices
up on this site very soon!
In the meantime, why not see our 'snippets' section for some pictures inside
County Hall which were taken last year, or pop on over to our gallery
for your last-chance to see inside our old Borough High Street address!

none other than Mike Stock and Pete Waterman sat in the audience!
